Class of 2024 College Prep

Here are some helpful resources for Class of 2024 as you start preparing for the fall college application season:

Junior College Application Workshop Presentation

NHS Counseling Website (Grade 12 Page):

  • Senior Handbook – A complete guide to the NHS college application process! All students who are applying to 4-year colleges should read this guide to avoid any issues when submitting college applications and other documentation.
  • Senior Questionnaire – You’ll need to complete this if you need a counselor letter of recommendation.
  • College Application Manager to help with organizing your college list, application deadlines, and required application components.
  • Tip sheets for the UC, CSU and Common Application. These will be updated in the fall when the Fall 2023 applications post!

Important note about accessing financial aid / scholarships: Seniors are highly encouraged to submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the CADAA (California Dream Act Application). The applications open on October 1. Support for completing the forms will be available! NHS will host FAFSA completion workshops, and resources are available at here.

Class of 2024! Are you worried about the college application essays? Are you worried about how to structure your responses, how to showcase your voice, or what to highlight in your essay? Do you want to have a less stressful start to your senior year? Join this workshop to work on the Common App and UC essays. You could be done with your essays before the school year even begins!

Starts 7/10/23, 8:30AM-12Noon, M-F, $500 at Northwood HS

City of Irvine Survey - May 31 Deadline

The City first launched the Children, Youth and Families Strategic Plan in 2002 to better understand and address the needs of families in Irvine. Community engagement plays a pivotal role in helping the City identify opportunities for new, enhanced, and innovative ways to support families in areas such as: child care and school readiness; youth alcohol, substance use, and other risky behavior reduction; and health and wellness.

Irvine residents are invited to participate in an online survey that will help inform an updated five-year plan that will begin later this year. Residents can take the online survey through May 31 and are also invited to attend in-person outreach events that will be held in the upcoming months.

Residents are invited to participate in the online survey by May 31.

Irvine residents are also invited to attend in-person Children, Youth and Family Strategic Plan Outreach Events. On-site childcare will be provided. No registration is required to attend.

  • May 23, 3:30–5 p.m. at Irvine City Hall

NHS 2023 Summer Sports Camps

NHS Athletics exists to foster a learning environment reflective of the school’s core values, where all student-athletes can compete for the greater purpose of developing personal character and commitment to teamwork and community. Camps are open to all current and incoming Northwood students, are purely recreational, and are completely voluntary.

Daily attendance aids in development, but is not required. Participation in camps is not offered for credit and is not a prerequisite for equal access to participate in athletics during the school year. Fueled by a strong commitment by both our athletes and our coaching staff, Northwood High School’s Summer Skills Camps are designed to teach fundamental skills in each sport and to help build up proper strength and conditioning.
